📖 Synopsis
Toru Kamiya, an ordinary high school student, makes a fake confession to the school's popular girl, Maori Hino, to stop his friend from being bullied. Unexpectedly, Maori accepts his confession under three conditions: "Don't talk to each other until school is over," "Keep messages short," and "Don't actually fall in love with me."
As they spend time together, they develop genuine feelings. One day, Maori reveals a shocking secret: she suffers from anterograde amnesia, a condition where she loses all of the previous day's memories every time she sleeps. She starts every morning by reading her diary from the day before. To support her, Toru vows to bring her new joy every day, filling her diary with happy memories.

🔚 Ending (Spoiler Alert)
The ending carries a heartbreaking twist. Just as Maori's condition shows signs of improvement, it is Toru—who seemed healthy—who suddenly passes away due to a hereditary heart defect. Before his death, he leaves a will asking his friend Izumi to erase all traces of him from Maori's diary so she won't have to grieve. Years later, however, Maori finds herself crying instinctively while looking at sketches of a familiar boy in her sketchbook. Eventually, Izumi reveals the truth, and although Maori cannot remember him with her mind, she vows to never forget Toru, whom her heart still remembers.

💬 Personal Review
"I started watching this thinking it was just a typical teen romance, but past the halfway mark, I was sobbing so hard I couldn't watch without a handkerchief. The scene where Toru asks to have his traces erased for Maori's sake broke my heart—it truly showed what selfless love looks like. It’s a tragic yet incredibly beautiful film."
